New Delhi/Patna: Bihar has achieved a remarkable milestone by becoming the first state in India to offer a trio of high-speed and modern train services—Vande Bharat Express, Amrit Bharat Train, and Namo Bharat Rapid Rail. This unique combination makes Bihar the only state where passengers can experience all three of India’s most advanced rail systems in operation.
According to Dilip Kumar, Executive Director (Information and Publicity) of the Railway Board, Bihar has emerged as a trailblazer in India’s railway modernization. “Across the country, Bihar is the only state where the public is availing the combined benefits of high-speed and modern trains,” he stated.
The Modern Rail Trio in Bihar
Currently, Vande Bharat Express, Amrit Bharat Trains, and the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail are all operational within Bihar’s boundaries.

The second-ever Namo Bharat Rapid Rail in India has begun operations between Jaynagar and Patna, bringing world-class rapid transit to the state.
Revamp Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme
Alongside train operations, Bihar is also witnessing major infrastructure upgrades under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. As part of this initiative, 98 railway stations across the state have been identified for redevelopment. The Pirpainti and Thawe stations have already been successfully revamped.
Earlier this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated 103 redeveloped railway stations under the scheme across India. Several prominent stations in Bihar—including Patna, Gaya, Darbhanga, and Muzaffarpur—are undergoing modernisation to improve passenger amenities and station aesthetics.
Special Central Focus on Bihar
This development underscores the central government’s focused attention on Bihar’s infrastructure growth, particularly in the railway sector. The convergence of high-speed train services and upgraded stations positions Bihar as a national model for modern rail mobility.
As these modern train services continue to expand, Bihar is poised to set new benchmarks in public transportation and regional connectivity.
